Hello!

I'm Ranga, an expressionist oil painter based in Essex. My work is rooted in emotion, guided more by what I feel than what I see. I'm drawn to moody, atmospheric seascapes shaped by memory and imagination. I explore the movement of waves, clouds, and shifting landscapes, using brushstrokes and texture to tell the stories behind each piece. Elements like skies, coastlines, and water often blur into abstract forms.

I began my artistic journey in my teens, fully immersing myself in painting, exhibiting, and working on commissions. A passion for theatre eventually led me to dedicate over two decades to teaching, directing, and producing theatre. In 2022, inspired by my move to Essex, I found my way back to painting with a fresh sense of creativity.

​Sometimes I take a break from expressionism to paint British landscapes. It helps me switch off, reconnect with the world around me, and come back to my work with fresh eyes.

Through painting, I explore and express myself – the process is a journey in itself.  Every painting I create holds meaning for me—a moment, a feeling, a piece of my story. But what I love most about expressionist art is that it doesn't end there. It invites your interpretation too, stirring your own emotions and memories. That shared connection is what brings each piece to life.
